AU summit starts in Libya to boost agriculture

The Export and Import Bank (EXIM) of India has been negotiating with
officials of the Ethiopian government to open its East African branch in the
Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
Mehret Mandefro is a primary care physician and HIV prevention researcher.
She most recently was a Robert Wood Johnson Health and Society Scholar
at the University of Pennsylvania and a Senior Fellow at the Leonard Davis
Institute of Health Economics.

The Ethiopian Horticulture Development Agency announced that 138
million USD was earned from flower, vegetable, fruit and herbs exported
during the past 11 months.  
Hardline Islamists have condemned four young Somali men
to a double amputation for stealing mobile phones.

They will each have a hand and a leg cut off after being
convicted by a Sharia court in the capital, Mogadishu.
Ethiopia May Invade Somalia If Islamists Take Control
June 22 (Bloomberg) -- Ethiopia may invade Somalia if Islamist rebels oust the
government and threaten its security, Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said, as
his Somali counterpart declared a state of emergency amid increasing violence.
Ethiopia has refused a request by Somalia for
military support to fight insurgents, saying such an
intervention would need an international mandate.
The Somali authorities have been battling Islamist
insurgents who control much of the country.

entrepreneurs have received licenses to 439
investment projects in different parts of Ethiopia with
an aggregate capital of 4.2 billion US dollars, Indian

recuperating from a severe blow from
the joint operation of the Ethiopian

then Transitional Government of Somalia (TFG), the terrorists in Somalia seem to be
regrouping. The recent terrorist act that took the life of Omar Hashi Aden and Abdulkarim
Ibrahim Lakanyo, a former Somali ambassador to Ethiopia, is no doubt a blow to peace
in Somalia. Both men were tough on terrorists and were instrumental in building
bridges in the horn region.

India to invest $4.2 bn in Ethiopia

ETHIOPIA: India will invest $4.2 bn in 439 projects in Ethiopia, the Indian
Ambassador to the country said.

"Indian entrepreneurs have received licences from the Ethiopian authorities
to invest an aggregate capital of USD 4.2 billion in 439 investment projects
in the country," Gurjit Singh said on his visit to Dire Dawa recently.
Addis Ababa, June 23, 2009 (Addis Ababa) - Prime Minister, Meles
Zenawi is to attend the G8 Summit to be held in Rome, Italy
representing the African continent, a senior Ethiopian government
official disclosed.

Meles will be attending the G8 Session as per the
invitation made by his Italian counterpart, Silvio Berlusconi, the official told
journalists on Tuesday.

During the course of the session, Meles is expected to voice the cause of
Africa, especially development assistance the African countries shall get
from G8 member states in order to withstand the adverse effects of the
current global economic downturn.
